Apply Early for Fall Planning

The Fall 2026 priority application period opens July 15. Students who prepare early have more time to locate records, review placement guidance, compare programs, and plan an advising conversation before high-demand courses fill.

The priority period is recommended for first-time college students, transfer students, returning adults, international applicants, and students interested in programs with sequenced courses.

Early application gives students time to make a thoughtful academic and financial plan instead of trying to solve every question during the final registration week.

Steps After Application

After submitting the application, students will receive instructions for transcripts or academic records, placement, orientation, tuition planning, and advising. Additional documents may be requested according to student type.

Submitting an application does not register a student for classes. Registration occurs after required steps are completed and the student confirms an appropriate schedule.

Important Planning Dates

Priority application begins July 15, advising appointments begin August 3, orientation sessions are planned for August 17-21, and fall classes begin August 24.

Students who apply after the priority period may still be considered, but course choice, processing time, and appointment availability may be limited.

Why Priority Timing Matters

Priority application gives students time to complete steps that often take longer than expected: locating records, reviewing placement, comparing programs, asking tuition questions, and finding an advising appointment.

High-demand courses in writing, ESL, computer science, business, health sciences, and general education may fill earlier than students expect, especially when courses have prerequisites or recommended preparation.

Applicants Should Watch for Follow-Up

After applying, students should check email regularly for admissions messages. The college may ask for academic records, English-language information, placement steps, orientation registration, or clarifying details about student type.

Students should not wait until registration week to respond to document requests. Delayed responses can affect advising, placement, and course availability.

Support Before Registration

Admissions, advising, financial services, and student services will coordinate messages for applicants during the priority period. Students may request help comparing programs, estimating cost, understanding payment timing, or preparing for orientation.

Applicants who are unsure about a program can still begin the process. Advisors can help students choose an exploratory pathway and adjust later when goals become clearer.

Why This Update Matters

This update is part of QHCC's ongoing effort to give students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners clear information before a deadline or program decision becomes urgent. The most important details are practical: Priority application opens July 15, 2026; Advising begins August 3; Fall classes begin August 24.

Students should use the announcement to plan next steps, not only to read about an event after it happens. In most cases, the best response is to check eligibility, confirm dates, prepare records or questions, and contact the office listed below before making registration or program decisions.

How Students Should Use This Information

For students and families, the immediate planning points are: Application is not the same as course registration; Use an email address checked regularly during the priority period; Prepare records before advising whenever possible. These reminders are intended to reduce last-minute confusion and help students bring the right information to advising, admissions, or student service conversations.

The college's next actions are: Submit the application for the intended term; Respond to admissions document or placement messages; Attend orientation and advising before registration. Students who are affected by this update should keep copies of related messages, monitor college email, and ask for clarification when a requirement, schedule, or office contact is unclear.
